Rats are a very common pest in Brisbane and for several years the Brisbane City Council has acknowledged that there is a rat problem in many areas of suburban Brisbane.
Whilst a pest treatment can be carried out by owners with baiting stations there are many steps that tenants need to take themselves to address the presence of rats in a rental home. Ridding yourself of rats is definitely a joint process.
Attached is a flyer from the Brisbane City Council which discusses steps that need to be taken in order to reduce the attraction to the property for the little buggars.
If you believe you smell a rat, please have a read through and make sure those steps within your control are taken to assist the process. The City Council can also be contacted to inspect the problem and assist with advice on reducing nesting sites or food sources.
If the problem persists, please contact your property manager who can speak to the owner about any measures recommended by the Council.
